Kernow Minds
We are excited to announce the launch of our Kernow Minds Community Project! At Kernow Psychiatry we are big advocates for understanding neurodiversity. Kernow Minds aims to improve and promote awareness and education about neurodiversity within our local community.
We recently hosted our first event in a primary school. This was a neurodiversity workshop for 60 children led by Dr. Reid where the children learnt about neurodiversity and the different ways in which neurodivergent conditions might impact us. They also did some brain modelling, took part in a simulation experiment to understand what it might be like to be neurodivergent.
We were also delighted to have our helpers from The Nature Room to take the children through some team working activities. It was a great success and heart-warming to hear the children talking so positively and curiously about neurodiversity.
Join us as we explore innovative ideas and collaborate on projects empower individuals and enhance our collective well-being. Together, let's make a positive impact and create a brighter future!

Royal College of Psychiatrists International Congress
Dr Reid recently was invited to speak at the Royal College of Psychiatrists hosted in Wales on the topic of Hoarding. This is an important and often overlooked area of mental health. Hoarding Disorder was only recognised as a mental disorder in it's own right in 2013. There are treatments available (medication and talking therapies) but there is a real need for further research into this area.
